The Red Rooks were enemy chess pieces and the counterpart of the White Rooks. They were capable of moving an unlimited number of times in a straight line from their starting point.

History

When Alice arrived in the Chess Rooms of the Heart Palace, the Red Rooks were only able to block her pathway, as the Red Knights attacked her when she crossed their way.

Alice: Madness Returns

Some of the Red Rooks appeared as decaying statues in the courtyard of the entrance of the Heart Palace, and in the Majestic Maze. Their deaths were not shown, however, and the remaining Red Rooks that were still alive were in the Chess Rooms in the Waste Wing part of the castle.

The Rooks were red in color and shaped like a tower. They were one of the largest chess pieces and had buff arms.

The Rooks still possessed their tower stature, buff arms, and red color. However, the Rooks' head were aligned with their shoulders and the decaying statues lacked vibrancy.

Attacks

• Headbutt – The Red Rook does a charging attack and will move in a directly straight line towards Alice, until the attack hits her or is blocked.
• Punch – The Red Rook does a simple punch attack.

Tactic

These large foes can take a bit more punishment before going down, as such light attacks may not be as effective. Therefore the Jackbomb is the weapon of choice against them, in combination with the Ice Wand's secondary ability, the ice wall, which blocks their lunges and allows for easier control by either circling around, or by closing them inside a space if possible, to blow them up more easily. At that point when encountered, the Dice will also be sufficiently upgraded to summon the serpent demon, who is moderately potent against them.
