Ben Kerslake is a senior user experience designer at Autodesk, and previous creative consultant, creative director, and lead concept and storyboard artist at Spicy Horse (2007-2013), where he worked on American McGee's Grimm, Alice: Madness Returns and Akaneiro: Demon Hunters.

Ben studied at NMIT in 2006, to earn his associate degree in Illustration. However, he left in 2007, without finishing his course to pursue an offer in full-time employment in game development.

Career[]

In 2006, Ben started off as a freelance concept and storyboard artist, before he was hired as a concept and storyboard artist at Spicy Horse Games in 2007, working to define the game art style, gameplay mechanics and visual storytelling. From 2007-2008, Ben became the lead concept and storyboard artist in Shanghai City, China, supporting the gameplay and level designs, storyboards, and asset productions and direction for cinematic. In the latter half of the development, he managed both concept art and levels design teams, overseeing game direction and on-going design. He ran a high-pressure art pipeline art, meeting tight deadlines for episodic release and marketing asset. By 2008, Ben became the game's creative director, in charge of the overall team, and project leadership with responsibilities spanning several projects and prototypes.
